What is the Irving Turkey Trot?

The Irving Turkey Trot benefiting the Irving Schools Foundation takes place every Thanksgiving morning in the heart of North Texas.

The inaugural Irving Turkey Trot started on November 26, 2020. Despite outdoor gatherings not being allowed at the time due to COVID19, our founder/race director, the City of Irving, event partners, volunteers, runners and walkers found a way to organize the event following strict social distancing protocols. A tradition to celebrate health and wellness began. Watch the socially distanced 2020 Irving Turkey Trot event video

The tradition continued in 2021 with over 1,350 runners, joggers, and walkers from all over the country. It was a great feeling to be able to run through scenic Las Colinas Urban Center on Thanksgiving morning.

The 2022 Irving Turkey Trot scheduled for November 24, at Toyota Music Factory will include a few enhancements for a better running experience. Event parking is available at the Urban Towers parking garage next to the venue. The celebrations start early this year at 7:30 am to get you back home for a turkey meal as soon as possible after you cross the finish line.

Runners, joggers, and walkers are welcome to sign up for the 5k run/walk or the 8-Mile distance. Multiple water stations are located throughout the course with volunteers from the community with hydration as the participants complete the scenic routes. The 8-Mile event takes runners around Lake Carolyn Promenade then back to Toyota Music Factory.
