Love On The Run 2022 Recap

Love on the Run (LOTR) 2022 was one for the books. Wind gusts and snow flurries couldn’t keep us and the participants from having a memorable time during our event. We had nearly 800 registrants for LOTR. One of the special parts of the event was hearing why people chose to run with others.

Husband and wife duo Chris Powell and Coretha Powell ran their first IMRS race this year.

“We’re on a fitness journey as a couple,” Coretha P. said. “It gives us some bonding time away from the kids.”

For friends Jared Taylor and Quincey Martin, they ran the 10K together to encourage and support one another.

“Quincey and I started in January, averaging about an average of a mile every day,” Taylor said. “We all push each other every day… keep each other accountable any keep trying to achieve our goals.”

Jim Louder, co-owner of Nosh and Bottle Market (an Irving Marathon sponsor), was in attendance and spoke about the comradery of the Las Colinas community.

“The music factory is a community of realtors that are warm and friendly people,” Louder said. “This is a great event to expose [participants] to what’s available here. There is also a great feeling of comradery with the city and the Las Colinas area.”

After the participants crossed the finish line and awards were handed out, the best prize was the amount we got to donate to the Irving Schools Foundation. We had the privilege to donate $1,000 to the foundation and benefit the students of our city.

“About 80% of our kids are economically disadvantaged, so they rely on the support of the community,” Crystal Scanio, President & CEO of Irving Schools Foundation, said. “We’re very thankful to Lazaro and his team for everything they do for the Irving Schools Foundation to support our kids and the community of Irving.”

All in all, we had a blast and look forward to our St. Patrick’s race in less than a month (so be sure to register before prices increase). If you need any convincing, here is what Martin and Taylor have to say about Irving Marathon Running Series events.

“Come out, have fun, don’t worry about the time. Just enjoy your race and love the run,” Martin said.

“Everyone should do it. Whether you walk, run or jog, just come out here and try to achieve a goal every time,” Taylor said.
